German Twisted Cast On

Fisher Woman's Hat
With the start of the new year, it’s time to do some charity knitting. Our Local Yarn Shop (LYS) is collecting hat and scarves to be distributed. Tried out a new hat pattern with some Lion Brand Homespun that had been languishing in the stash. It knitted into a nice warm hat that’s soft and comfy. Tried out some new (to me) techniques too. For a nice stretchy cast on I tried the German Twisted Cast On - here’s a link to a video tutorial (Video Tutorial Link: (scroll down to Twisted German Cast On) ) - it wasn’t difficult, and it did have some nice stretch. The other new technique was a twisted 1×1 ribbing - it results in a nice looking, but different looking, ribbing on both sides. The pattern for the hat is free on Ravelry.com (Fisher(wo)man’s Hat - here’s a link:
Ravelry Pattern for Hat Link I’ll get a few more hats knitted up and to the LYS by mid-Feb
